Improved Health

A new Natural Manna client will complete a comprehensive health questionnaire concerning their present and past state of health, together with information relating to their nutrition, after which a personal, in-depth consultation will take place.

This can be on a one-to-one basis or over the telephone, with a qualified nutritionist who, during this time will make some immediate suggestions to the client in order that they can start on a regime that should help improve their health or kick-start weight loss.

Following the consultation the Nutritionist will prepare comprehensive advice and follow-up findings. This includes nutritional advice targeting the client’s specific problems to complement their lifestyle and preferences.

Regular follow up advice is available if required dependent upon the client’s problem, and what improvements have taken place. Further consultations are recommended at 3 monthly intervals to monitor progress and for further nutritional recommendations such as vitamin supplementation, healthy eating recipes and shopping plans, cooking advice etc.

It can take up to 12 months or longer for a person to comfortably change habits of a lifetime on a daily basis and feedback has shown that it is helpful if a friendly but impartial ear is available to offer support and advice.

Your Nutritionist Counsellor

Weight Control

Natural Manna’s nutritionist is Jan Walker, who gained a Diploma in Nutritional Sciences in 1994 at the University of South Africa after completing a Diploma in Psychology and Counselling.

When counselling suffers of Anxiety Disorders, Depression, PTSD, Anorexia/Bulimia through a national support group she noticed a connection between improvement of these conditions and correct nutritional attitudes.

She recognised that patients suffering from many chronic ailments were not receiving much nutritional advice from their GP’s who were happily writing out prescriptions for the symptoms but not addressing the cause, and it is worrying that increasingly patients with IBS, Diverticulitis, Crohns and Coeliac Disease are left to their own devices to work out an eating plan.

In 2004 Jan was awarded a Diploma in Advanced Nutrition and embarked on a Higher International Diploma in Nutrition accredited by the National College of Holistic Medicine.

Courses in Life Coaching and Stress Management have subsequently been undertaken to enable clients to receive comprehensive nutritional and lifestyle advice. As resident columnist for the North Wales Newspaper group and a regular contributor to national newspaper and radio features Jan has raised awareness of the importance of good nutrition to achieve good health.

Psychological Therapy and Stress Management

Psychological therapy is an important part of the package and helps clients overcome food and other substance addictions and how to start ‘thinking outside the box’. Family and couples mediation is available as well as stress management techniques to support the ‘new you’.
